Kauai’s cuisine connection – Hanalei
Ideally located in the heart of Hanalei town, arguably(…not with me!) one of the most breathtaking and sensual towns on our planet, sits a rustic eatery called Tahiti Nui…aka “da nui”.
Featured in a pivotal scene starring George Clooney in his 2012 Oscar winning movie “the Descendants”, this hot property attracts hordes of visitors for its delicious casual fare and Wednesday evening local luau. Many in line are movie fans eager to soak up any remaining essence left over from charming Sir Clooney. Summer months find guests savoring the other “within walking distance” eateries scattered beneath the soaring green distant peak of Namolokama (“the gathering place”).
Around the corner on the banks of the Hanaei river is the Dolphin restaurant…my family and guests of ours find time for mouth melting sushi whenever the craving for fresh sashimi and hand rolls sets in.
My dear friend and surf partner Christophe is the executive chef at “Baracuda”, an all out excellent restaurant that is taste bud driven by his creative delectable tapas menu. It’s THE ideal spot for locals and visitors to gather and reflect on the days antics. I have had the honor of escorting hollywood actor friends and visiting clients who remember the fun and elegant simplicity of their entire affair and ask to make a reservation priority#1 on their next Kauai visit.
